ABOUT Custom Sleep Technology Inc.

Custom Sleep Technology Inc. (CST) manufactures and markets sleep products that are constructed specifically for each individual’s unique body characteristics. In May 2021, CST’s three owner-partners were issued a U.S. Patent for their Custom Foam Mattress Design System. CST was originally started in 2008 under the name of Custom Sleep Design by two founders: Robert Zukowski (with deep roots in the mattress industry) and Bernie.

CST now operates a retail/fabrication facility in Shelton, CT., where they can offer hundreds of mattress configurations due to the modular design of their products.

One of the most unique features of their mattress products is that they can be modified if the body characteristics of the user(s) change or one or more of the internal components fail over time. This is all accomplished in the home with no need to remove the mattress. “It’s the last mattress you’ll ever buy.”

By utilizing the body measurements of each sleeper, CST determines the required ILD/IFD (softness) and foam densities of each layer and segment on each side of the mattress and/or mattress topper to minimize pressure points and place the spine in a natural and stress-free position. CST can also address specific physical issues that customers experience.

Body Profile Technology^TM3D Scanner Launch

CST Inc. deployed its newly developed Body Profile Technology^TM 3D-Scanner System in our Newtown, CT showroom. Our patented system will provide our customers with the latest in personalized mattress design technology.

This system will digitally measure each sleeper’s body dimensions down to the tenth of an inch and deliver that data to our proprietary mattress design software currently available on our website. These systems together will deliver the most accurate personalized mattress designs ever created.

CST continues to expand its development in new personalized mattress design technology with one goal in mind—provide our customers with a mattress product that levels their spine and minimizes pressure on joints thus allowing the customer to achieve the highest level of quality sleep possible.

Bob Zukowski is a former executive at Latex International (now Talalay Global) with more than 20 years of experience in mattress design, foam performance, pressure relief, durability, and sleep ergonomics.

This experience led him to recognize a key industry challenge: most mattresses are produced in only a few comfort levels despite the wide range of human body types and sleeping positions.

In 2009, Bob founded Custom Sleep Design to explore how mattresses could be tailored to individual sleepers using pressure mapping and body measurements. Years of research and real-world testing resulted in the launch of Custom Sleep Technology (CST) Inc. in 2022.

CST developed a patented mattress design methodology that evaluates factors such as height, weight, body proportions, weight distribution, and sleeping position to determine the support and pressure-relief needs of each individual. Rather than relying solely on subjective comfort testing, the company’s process incorporates biomechanics, spinal alignment, pressure management, material performance, and long-term adaptability to create a personalized sleep system.
