ABOUT GhostBed
Marc Werner is the founder and CEO of GhostBed. He is well-known for his various industry-related patents and his 20-year involvement in the mattress industry. Nature’s Sleep is his wholesale brand and GhostBed is their direct-to-consumer e-commerce line.
After undergoing three major neck surgeries, Marc knew what it was like to be in pain every single day. In 2001, after failing to find a comfortable mattress and pillow that supported his neck and back, and he decided to invent his own. That’s when he founded Nature’s Sleep. Their manufacturing and production facilities are now entirely USA-based for American sold mattresses and Canadian based for mattresses sold in Canada.
Fast-forward to 2015 when Nature’s Sleep introduced GhostBed. Their added goal was simple: to create a bigger, better, and more affordable mattress while still offering the best service in the industry. To make it easier to find the best-match “ideal” mattress they used only quality and durable components and eliminated the need for sometimes inaccurate in-store “testing” by introducing (quite early relative to other players) the GhostBed 101 nights risk-free, thus giving their customers the chance to fall in love with the product in their own homes and ensure suitability.

Here at GhostBed, we’re a family-owned business with big-league manufacturing experience. Our founder, Marc Werner (yep, of the famous Werner Ladder Company), takes an active part in ensuring not just the quality of our products, but the quality of our service.
Have we learned things along the way? Of course. But we’re proud to use what we’ve learned to continually improve. Here’s a peek at some of the “family values” we’ve established:
- We create premium products for every type of sleeper. Side sleeper? Back sleeper? 3 neck surgeries to date, like our founder? We’ve got a mattress for you. But the reality is, a mattress that feels wonderfully bouncy to one person might feel uncomfortably soft to another. During your 101-night comfort trial, consider us your sleep connoisseurs. We’re here to help you sleep your best—and if that ultimately means that your GhostBed mattress isn’t right for you, you’ll get your money back and we’ll help you arrange for a pickup and/or donation. (It’s one of the reasons we’re one of the few mattress-in-a-box recommendations here on The Mattress Underground!)
- We set high standards for sustainable shipping & returns. Eco-friendly and fast shipping has always been our MO, with most orders shipping within 24 hours. Most people are pleasantly shocked by how fast their mattress arrives, and it’s one of the reasons we have so many loyal customers! Like a tightly run ship, our logistics team has certain processes in place to meet these high standards. The same goes for returns—while we’re fortunate to have a low rate of returns, we have a process in place to make sure that unwanted mattresses are donated, whenever possible, instead of sent to a landfill. The pandemic threw wrenches at us left and right, but we’ve been working diligently to keep this process afloat.
- When issues arise, we strive to provide a solution during your first call. We process thousands of orders every month, from mattresses to pillows and more. With so many products going from point A to point B, sometimes issues arise. And when that happens, we’ve trained our staff to address it as quickly as possible. Sometimes a senior manager’s approval is required, but we work hard to get through the queue as fast as we can. - We work with our customers to make it right. Marc works day-to-day with his wife, son, and daughter at our corporate office. Our goal is for each and every one of our customers to feel that same family vibe. Is it perfect all the time? Maybe not. But while we have certain guidelines in place to keep our family unit running smoothly, we’ll do everything we can to treat you fairly. For those few customers who escalate concerns to the BBB, we have a dedicated senior manager who has been working diligently to address these issues. While these customers don’t usually come back to update their reviews, you have our word that the situation has been resolved.

- We continually train our staff to uphold these values. We’re proud (and humbled) to say that despite the COVID-19 pandemic, our team has continued to grow. Back in early 2020, we had a total of 35 employees across all departments… now we’ve got 35 sleep experts on our customer service team alone!
