The Mattress Underground (“TMU,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides a Shopify integration for participating TMU merchant partners. The integration allows TMU to track referrals from TMU to participating Shopify stores and determine whether those referrals result in page visits, cart activity, checkout activity, or completed orders.
This policy describes the data processed and transmitted by the TMU Shopify Tracking App (“App”).
When a visitor follows a tracked TMU link to a participating merchant’s Shopify store, the App associates subsequent shopping activity with the TMU referral.
The purpose of this tracking is to:
The Shopify App transmits the same type of tracking information used by TMU’s integrations with participating merchants on other e-commerce platforms.
Depending on the stage reached by the visitor, this may include:
TMU may also maintain the highest shopping stage associated with a referral, such as page view, cart, checkout, or order.
The TMU tracking system is designed to track referrals and transactions, not the identity of the individual customer.
The App does not transmit to TMU:
TMU does not need this information to attribute a transaction to a TMU referral.
Tracking information generated through the Shopify integration leaves the participating merchant’s Shopify environment and is transmitted to TMU’s tracking system.
The information is processed and stored within TMU’s systems, including its WordPress-based tracking infrastructure, for attribution, transaction matching, reporting, commission administration, auditing, troubleshooting, and related operational purposes.
TMU uses the information received through the App to:
TMU does not sell the tracking information collected through the App.
Tracking and transaction information may be accessible to TMU personnel and authorized service providers where access is necessary to operate, maintain, secure, or administer the tracking system.
Relevant tracking and transaction information may also be provided to the participating merchant for reporting, transaction verification, attribution, commission administration, or dispute resolution.
Information may be disclosed where required by applicable law.
TMU retains tracking and transaction information for as long as reasonably necessary for referral attribution, reporting, commission verification, auditing, dispute resolution, security, and applicable recordkeeping requirements.
Information that is no longer required may be deleted, anonymized, or aggregated.
TMU uses reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect tracking and transaction information transmitted to and stored within the TMU tracking system.
Access is limited to authorized systems, personnel, and service providers where reasonably necessary for operation and administration of the system.
No method of transmission or electronic storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Participating merchants remain responsible for their Shopify stores, their relationships with their customers, their own privacy policies and notices, and compliance with applicable privacy and data-protection requirements.
Installation of the TMU App authorizes the App to transmit the tracking and transaction information necessary to provide the TMU referral tracking service, subject to the permissions granted through Shopify.
