Synthetic Latex Rubber

L:Styrene-Butadiene Rubber (SBR) Latex is a man-made molecular equivalent of natural rubber Latex (developed during WWII when natural rubber Latex became scarce).

  • Due to its molecular uniformity, synthetic latex is more durable and consistent than natural rubber (NR)
  • Synthetic Latex formulation offers more precise control over the firmness range of Latex foam rubber.
  • SBR is less elastic and resilient than 100% NR latex however when blended with NR Latex adds consistency and durability to the NR rubber.
  • SBR tends to harden with oxidative aging because the oxidative processes affect their polymer structure differently and will end up brittle when fully oxidized. '(Which if the latex is protected will take a very long time)'
