Winndom Mattress, the eCommerce brand of Custom Comfort by Winn, is part of a family-owned mattress manufacturer based in Hopewell, Virginia. With over forty years of experience, the company has mastered the craft of creating high-quality, made-to-order mattresses using American-sourced materials. Founded in 1988 by Winn Butterworth, the company quickly built a reputation for comfort, craftsmanship, and exceptional customer service.

Winn, coming from a long line of furniture retailers and having worked for a national mattress company, saw firsthand how cost-cutting often compromised quality. Motivated by a desire to do better, he founded Custom Comfort by Winn, which has since evolved into Winndom Mattress, now available online through their eCommerce platform.

Today, the company is run by Butterworth’s daughter and son-in-law, Carman and Justin Faison, who are committed to continuing Winn’s legacy of quality and innovation while positioning the company for future growth. Their success is rooted in a simple promise to every customer:

A bit of history: The parent company’s story began in an old schoolhouse in Hopewell, Virginia, where the gymnasium served as the manufacturing floor—mattresses were crafted beneath the basketball hoop and on the original hardwood court. The first offices were set up in nearby classrooms, still equipped with large chalkboards. From the very beginning, Winn focused on two core principles: using the best materials and providing exceptional customer service.

Over the past forty years, the company has faced significant milestones, including the loss of its founder in 2013 and the devastating fire that destroyed its original facility in 2023. Despite these challenges, loyal customers have continued to trust in the company’s commitment to consistent quality.
